On Saturday, May 9th, I had the opportunity to be a part of the REI 5K/10K Series and run with a great group of runners. With an entry fee of ONLY $15, this was a race you really couldn't pass up. Plus, the trails of Bond Park offers a tough, but great and scenic terrain for anyone trying to get in bikini shape for the summer.
The race was a part of a series offered by REI. There were prizes offered for the top male and female finishers for both the 5K and 10K. We got started promptly at 8:30 a.m. with about 62 runners. The course involved both Greenway and trail, making it a pretty tough course to run! Those running the 10K had to repeat the course twice - by the 2nd time around I began to question why I would even consider signing up for a second part of the race!
Overall, everyone had a good finish and great time! I finished as the top female finisher for the 10K at around 50 min, which was not my best time, but great as I haven't run since the Bull City Half Marathon (I still haven't talked about that one!) in October of 2014.
The REI 10K definitely was a great way to kick off my summer running, I am looking forward to running and sharing more about my runs for the Summer of 2015!
